OK, you won't feel comfortable proceeding with these questions open, right? .
I'm perfectly comfortable with it asking him about some things and without being outright accusatory. There's little about me that's shy or fearful

I was hopeful this might be something good but I'm in no way "hooked" or emotionally invested. I stay pretty removed when I haven't even met someone in person.
Have you actually met him in person yet? I had
a roommate who was into online dating, and this is exactly the kind of BS persona the scammers would come up with. It gives them a great cover for being physically unavailable and the overseas aspect lets them try the ol' "need emergency funds wired asap" scam.
.
This sounds like a Dr. Phil episode about catfishing...lol. Some lady met an "overseas contractor" sent him lots of cash and he was completely fictitious. Your contractor is probably in Nigeria and has stolen photos off the internet of some poor unsuspecting guy. Beware if he starts a asking you for cash....Anyone that operates a business or is breathing has a footprint.
The whole thing sounds very suspect. Just don't send him any money.
My thoughts as well. From everything we have heard about this guy, he sounds like a classic romance scammer. Don't send him any money, no matter what do story he gives you and no matter how charming he may appear to be.
Girl just leave it hanging let it and him go and yes to all the ones who said catfishing . sure sounds like it to me and yes everyone in todays world leaves a footprint . Let it go you will be glad you did .
Only a partial update and that is addressing the asking for money. He did contact me today ,during a lunch break, later than usual, because of work emergency because of a failure of a main component of his equipment.
I did ask a couple of the easier questions, which he answered pretty reasonably, but couldn't really hassle him much under the circumstances since he'd told me previously that day to day operations ran around $200,000 a day which he'll be losing.
I sincerely doubt he'll ask for money though, since the failed component he mentioned costs in the several million dollar range
Most don't ask for money on the show "Catfish". They're still fake though.
...and why do you think he's lying about anything, what's the catfish part here? That he's really a woman living down the road with a crush on her?
OP- are his pictures of movie star quality?
I think it's just a case of not being able to find his info. Don't throw him back in if you like him.
