First date was a coffee date.

For the second date he called and arranged for us to watch TV at his house Friday night. He doesn't have netflix or cable so it would just be whatever is on TV. Is this normal for a second date? Would you go to a man's house for the second date if you did not know him that well?

How well do you know this man outside of the context of dating, i.e., how did you meet, etc.?

at a local pub when I was out with friends. That doesn't count as a first date to me. First date was we arranged to get together for coffee at a coffee bar.

Completely depends on the man. I can think if one right now, I wouldn’t care if the tv was even on, forreal.

If you’re not sure that it’s a good idea, if you really care what show you’re watching...maybe hold off on the house date and go to another event instead?

In that case, do not even consider going to his home unless you want things to go where this surely will lead. (I'm assuming, of course, that you're relatively inexperienced with dating.)

Public dates are best in the beginning of getting to know someone. If it's an issue of money, you could suggest something to do together that would cost little to no money or split the cost.

Do you want to go to his house or are you feeling uneasy or unsure about whether or not you should go there? If you want to go and feel safe doing so, go for it. If you have even the tiniest inner voice telling you not to go, by all means listen to it and suggest a public venue for your second date.

Eh. I'd find it a little iffy.

On my second date with my husband, we stopped in at his house after dinner to let his dogs out, and then continued on. But the date was not spent hanging at his place.

I wouldn’t do it... They’re showing re-runs right now.

Staying at home would be much cheaper than going out for a coffee. Also much cheaper than getting a hotel room.

If you don't know this guy, don't go to his home. Who knows what could happen to you there.

General rule of thumb for safety for me is to never move from a public place to a private place until you see how the person handles conflict.
