very true. I've met the most nice and suave of guys and they had raging hormones. It is biological. So sexual problems between the two could most likely occur.

I think there is not likely to be a lot of sex between two people if they are living with eachother day-to-day. It's exciting to see someone infrequently, and not witness them doing the mundane things which they normally do in the privacy of their home, like burping, being a pig, and spending all their free time on internet forums. Plus, did you see the picture of the two students on that article? Neither of them could be called a 'looker.' I'm gonna try not to think about them having sex
My self too get along better with women then men. Ok I get along way better with children, but that is another story. I think it is a good step foward, breaching the gender gap even closer. I am surprise they haven't started that a long time ago.
In some parts of Europe there a public saunas where both gender of all age (even children) can be in the same room with no clothes on. There are also Unisex bathrooms and Unisex changing rooms at swimming pools, I was in one, years ago and didn't cause rape.

As a mother, I think I would not want my daughter in a co ed dorm room when she is older.
However, when I look back at my younger years, I had many male friends when I was teen and older, and had sleep overs at their homes, without sex, kissing, not even the slightest bit of sexuality. We were truly just 100% platonic friends. It all depends on the person, their maturity and perception.
If it were random boys and girls, then no, of course that would be a bad idea. But if it were friends who knew and trusted each other, than I don't think there should be a problem. It comes down to trust and maturity either way. As humans, we should be able to have relationships with the opposite sex without fear or rape or sex. So I suppose I would trust my daughter and her judgement in that type of arrangement, but I don't think she would want to anyway.
When I lived in Holland I went to a gym where the changing rooms were seperate, but the saunas and jucuzzis were co-ed and naked. You wore a towel, then took it off and climbed into the hot tubs and just lay on the towel in the saunas. For a Brit this took some getting used to, but the Dutch thought nothing of it.
By the end I thought nothing of it either. It just wasn't a big deal once you got over how DIFFERENT it was from what I was used to! No-one looked twice and I never once saw someone try and stay covered up. No-one cared.
Also I went to boarding school in Scandinavia. We all shared rooms, and a guy and one of my female friends lived together for about a year in a room. No sex, but she was a bit highly strung and he was better able to deal with her than anyone else. Again it was no big deal. They both dated other people.
