I see thread after thread started by men saying women are shallow and making the defense that men aren't shallow against imaginary attackers. It's like these threads come out of the blue and attack women like we are all exactly the same for no reason. About shallowness, the reality is both some men and some women are shallow. It's a human trait, not a gendered trait and it's not true of everyone. The irony is, your character assessment of women right now is very shallow. Sounds more like you are describing Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble than any real woman.

Women are the screaming fans (of celebrities/music bands etc.), do you see men doing that? Women do shameless things in public to get close to celebrities, men don't often do that.

Point is, it appears that women are a lot more shallow than we give them credit for.
Yea, it annoys me when women fawn over celebrities. Every now and then, it's OK, but saying so and so is soooo hot and fawning all over them all of the time makes me want to puke.

But guys do it too. I remember a couple of my college friends would fawn over every cute white chick who played in a band or every dyed her hair with red streaks. My more 'manly' friends would just have mags of naked chicks they thought were hot.

I also think it might be a function of age. I used to like Marisa Tomei. Holy sh@t, she's almost 50 now!

If someone my age started prattling on and on about how some celebrity was so hot, I'd be turned off.

Of course! Its feminist propaganda that men are more shallow. How many women will date a guy shorter than them? Almost none! How many men will date a taller women? I don't know but most! I know I would!

Definitely without hesitation YES!

Men are pretty simple creatures. Most of the time we don't let other factors decide for us if a female is attractive or not. We just go by visual appearance.

Women on the other hand are more easily influenced by other factors if they want to date a male or if they find him attractive. For instance you used the celebrity status. A man is famous and all of a sudden his looks ratings jump up a few notches. Other examples that influence women are financial status, social status, clothes, and race.

So all those threads about women being past their prime, aging like milk...etc...
That's not shallow?

The men on this thread that are whining about women being shallow are laughable.
Get over it.

Are women more shallow than men?

Nope. Nada. And I speak from experience with dating and with relatives.

I was really surprised, however, just how shallow some of the men I dated really were - one was horrifying and another was just an advertiser's wet dream.

I will never subscribe to the great divide of gender vs gender in this case. You might want to ask yourself why you might be attracted to people who are and keep gravitating toward them.
