Most counselors are trained to handle a variety of types of counseling situations and needs. They can usually deal with any situation they are presented with, that's true. That said, however, some are better at it than others. They're not robots. They have different ways and methods of dealing with stuff. It's kind of like a relationship. If you personally feel more comfortable confiding in that person, it's just going to go more smoothly and successfully, that's all.

funny i'm on this thread when my (former) counselor calls me on the phone and tells me there's a fifty dollar charge for no showing. last week, he just about conducted one of the most destructive sessions i've been to with him. i've found another counselor. i'm seeing her tomorrow at 2pm. i hope i have a better opinion of counselors then.

Okay forum peeps - I am going to the shrink after work and I'm gonna lower the boom, give her the axe, call it a day, etc. I've decided this forum is all I need. This ... and my birds.
