I don't see a problem with it. If you have kid(s) most of the time that will kill things pretty quick though. It depends on the guy. I love kids, but I love them to stay the hell away from me whenever I wish, too.
I think I would make a wonderful uncle and a terrible father....
If it's working out well, why would you ask our opinion?
You're either happy with it or not. If you were comfortable with the relationship you wouldn't come here to ask us if we think it's ok or not. If you were comfortable with the relationship, you wouldn't be here asking us what we thought.
Therefore, I surmise the relationship isn't comfortable for you. The age difference shouldn't be a stopping block. What I think of a 31 year old woman dating a 22 year old man is immaterial to whether or not these two people are happy together.
People who are happy together don't ask strangers on the internet whether or not they should be in a relationship, or if their ages are a good match.
I think whichever one you are, the relationship isn't floating your boat. If you're not happy with it, just keep on looking. No harm done. Keep moving on.
I think it depends on the individuals. I am married to a man nearly 7 years older than me but I still don't believe "age is just a number". I think age can have a huge impact on who you are, what you want out of life or a relationship, where you're at in life, etc. But depending on the individuals, it can still work out.
If it bothers you...then you might as well give up. If you can look past "what everyone else thinks" go for it if you feel ok with it. Live for yourself..not everyone else. It's your life. Enjoy it!
What do you guys think of a 31 year old woman dating a 22 year old man? Is this normal now or what?
Actually, that's a good age spread (though I'm amazed a 31 year old woman would want anything to with a kid that young). When you think about it, men hit their sexual peak much earlier than women and they die younger than women. The only issue I see is if they want kids, he may not have had enough time to grow up before they have them.
Someone once suggested that we should marry three times. In the first marriage she should be in her 20's and he in his 40's. They have kids, he takes care of her and they're pretty much sexually compatible. Then she should marry someone around 20 when she's in her mid 30's because both will be at the top of their game, sexually. Then when she's in her later 40's she marries someone in his early 40's/late 30's so they'll live about as long as each other.
There are advantages and disadvantages to each age gap.
