...You're at a restaurant with them, waiting for your food, and you notice they make the sign of the cross, briefly pray (not out loud), and then make another sign of the cross.
What would you think?
I'd figure they had probably eaten there before and knew something I didn't.
Wow, some VERY anti-religious people on this forum. Some of you would really not date a person because they say grace before a meal?
It's kinda funny, but the anti-religious crowd is often just as adamant and one-way as the religious population that they blast. I'm very middle-of-the-road. Neither crowd bothers me either way (I have a "religous" background and most of my family are Christians (with a few Jews thrown in there for good measure too! ), but MOST are not what I would call "devout". A few are, but even so, it just isn't anything I give much thought to. Religion is such a personal thing, not anything I'd ever base a friendship on. But certainly it should be something discussed between two people prior to making any sort of commitment to each other.
edit:...Sorry - so NOT meaning or wanting to turn this into a religious thread! There is a board for that!!

Yeah I hear you. I myself am Christian, though as my posts here attest, I'm far from perfect . I guess another point I would make though, is the fact someone says grace doesn't tell you much. They probably believe in God, and probably are Christian, but it doesn't mean they even go to church regularly, let alone are the judgmental "church is my only social outlet" type that I suspect most here dread.
that's what I was kind of thinking. I wouldn't dump them just for doing that! but seems if people are cheated on, lied to, taken advantage of, etc that's forgiveable, but you say grace before a meal or make a cross sign with your hands, "I'm Outta There!!"
Funny.
