I can remember when I met you, where, what were you wearing, what I was wearing, what we talked about, etc.... all those details. Next thing I see you I'll be like: "Hey, nice seen you again" while thinking: "Holy cow!!! what is her/his name?" and it is really bad when we are in a group of friends and I want to get your attention!!! or someone is making a remark about you and I am just nodding my head beacuse I do not know they are talking about you!!!
I meet people at work all the time, and the next time I see them they'll come up to me like "Hey IZ", and I'm like, "uh heyyyy....."
I hate this and I want to do something about it. I started saying the person's name like 10 times in my head or under my breath, each time associating their face with the name. It seems to work.
Anybody else have this problem? How do you deal with it?
Yep its a big problem, I usually explain when I first meet them that I'm horrible with names, and I'm sorry in advance if I forget your name.
I have this problem as well. I'll meet someone and forget their name five minutes later. The easiest way for me is to say their name 3 times within the course of short a conversation. Saying it out loud helps to remember. "Hi Morticia nice to meet you." "Hey Morticia, that black dress looks nice on you, goes nice with your lipstick and nail polish" "Take care Morticia, nice meeting you"
I was always horrible at remembering peoples names... then I read that it helps to imagine yourself writing a their name on a sticky and putting it on their forehead... its actually been working, I also seem to snicker whenever I meet people
You remember what you care about and forget what doesn't matter.
