Are you or do you know people who are always happy?
Whats the secret? Are they to goofy to understand reality?
I know people who are broke are in bad relationships and they still have the big smile on their face.
My son's teacher is the happiest person I've ever seen, a constant huge smile and perky, about everything. You could tell her the world is ending and she would say "Isn't that fantastic"

I would say the key in some cases is a past and present of a stress free or low stress life and having enough time to do those things you enjoy and are are passionate in life. With that said though I think living a balanced life is equally important to obtaining true happiness.

I agree with DaveNZ, I think a well balanced life and a good outlook on life is key. I am one of those people, consistently in a good mood but not overly so. I don't think it would be fantastic if someone told me the world was ending, I think my response would be more like, "oh crap!" "really??" LOL
But generally, I'm always joking around and trying to have fun, if I see one of my friends or colleagues is down, I'll do my best to make them laugh.

My cousin the most upbeat and good-natured person I know. She is just ... radiant. It sounds corny, but a room is brighter and happier when she enters it. She teaches yoga and her husband is a massage therapist, so I think she knows how to relax.

Her mother, my aunt, is the same way. Been through some bad times but never has an angry or unkind word for anyone.

I would agree there are some people like this. The majority, though, are either too dumb and oblivious to everything going on around them (because if they're not there's NO way to feel like this IMO) or on mind-altering drugs.

As somebody mentioned above, you can easily say "I lost my whole family in an accident last week" and they'll grin and respond "isn't it fantastic?!" because they simply don't listen to you. A know a few examples. They annoy the hell out of me!

It shows these people are mentally/emotionally healthier than most. How is that a negative thing?
