Actually I was thinking that this a actually true of guys. I've only had two successful friendships with guys: 1) my ex and 2) my gay co-worker. Every other male I've ever tried to befriend either wants sex eventually. I recently made a new friend but I think he's thinking I want more (NOT!)
There are waaay too many guys looking for FWB for me to ever really feel comfortable in a friendship with them.
Well, yes, if I have sex with a woman, I want it to be someone I know and have established a friendship with first...but I want her to make all the overtures, and I just be very accepting.
Some of the guys on this forum and this thread in particular seem to think that the only useful purpose for a woman is either a sexual partner or a potential sexual partner at some future time. Not everything has to do with sex. I became friends with a woman at work over 30 years ago in Seattle. She's probably a half a foot taller than me, she's married with a family, she's black and I'm white but we instantly hit it off mainly because we shared a certain sense of humor. I've moved a number of times since we first met but we're in touch on a regular basis after all these years and she's one of the best friends I've ever had. All I can say is that if you only seek out women because you see them as potential sexual partners you're missing out on having some friends who are just as close as guys you've been friends with for many years.
It has never worked out for me to have men as "friends only" they were always seeking more....even when I wasn't. They didn't do too well staying in the friend zone and we just ended up not communicating anymore.
One of my best friends is a guy. He did admit in the past, that he liked me and wished there was 'more' between us. BUT (this is so cute ), he said - "I'd rather have you in my life as a friend than not have you at all". Awww
That's probably because you're just so pretty, who could blame them?
Thank you Montana Guy...you're a sweetie for sure!

That was very sweet and your friendship meant alot to him. I wish more men could be this way.
