As an Atheist I have always been utterly puzzled by the fact that one thing which seems to bind all religions is this need for prayers, rituals and other flim-flammery.
....
What does it matter to this creature whether we even acknowledge it exists at all ?
....
Why all the mind games ?
Is this God so needy and so arrogant that he/she needs constant reassurance and adulation ?
......
Only despots and tyrants expect this level of constant adulation and like God seem to thrive on instilling the terror of death and pain on the little ants we all are.
I could just about get to grasp with the concept of a creator. Just. But all the accoutrements of religion , from commandments to scriptures, religious rituals, prayers seem to me to put it mildly petty and rather pointless.
Why is God not content with human beings who are decent, kind and morally upright, people who no matter what their faith ( or lack of thereof ) contribute in a positive manner to this universe he/she created ?
....
All I see is mind games at best and I do remain puzzled.
To me the very fact that we have rituals and religious flim-flammery in so many different shades and colours around the world indicates that if there is a creator we have created those rituals to make ourselves feel more secure somehow,
......
God is the pressure on humanity that we don't annihilate ourselves. Then, he can excuse us for not making a better Life of it.
That is a pretty presumptuous statement for the "royal we"? Seeing that god does not exist how does one achieve resonance with an invisible entity, I know, just make it up and pretend it is real.
God is real . . . your beliefs about God are what are in dispute. Beliefs have nothing to do with the existence of God . . . it just is what it is.

And as you say Mystic....this is your "belief about "
Humans are notorious for not getting the point . . . but our ancient primitive ancestors were particularly ill-equipped for it. Their ignorant interpretations of God have been preserved and perpetuated in ignorance deliberately by religious leaders creating the current morass. God NEEDS NOTHING, period . . . but WE DO. God IS GLORY . . . nothing we do can add to or detract from it. etc. etc. etc. EVERYTHING we do is to aid us in achieving resonance with God's Holy Spirit, period.
There is more to the wonderfull work of Grace:
Because God is Love He needs to love others, IE, His Son, us, His Angels, etc. If He has no need, then love would be only for Himself and that cannot be because of His triune nature of Love. If this where not so, then He would not bother with us. We are the expression of Himself and exist within the trinity of a love relationship. It is impossible for God to not need us and it is impossible for us to not need Him and each other. God alone has life in Himself but He shares His Eternal Life with us. Some day you will know this fully but now we know only in part and very dimly compared to what is coming! We have been on His mind and He has loved us from all eternity if you can fathom that! Romans, 8:29 says, "For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son..." I cannot fathom all this very much, because I am used to thinking in terms of time. However, in the primary sense, He needs nothing more that will make Him more God then He.
God doesn't "need" us at all. God "wants" us to join Him in His kingdom of heaven for eternity.
This is amazing sense he could have given up on we moronical humans and yet sent His son
to die for all sin past, present and future. That's how "OUR" God rolls. Atheists go to your corner
and face the wall along with your philosphical nonesense.
And why does someone like God need to be appeased in the first place ?
Only humans could be that arrogant and thus God was created rather than the other way around.
I remain bemused.
I can see why you're "bemused"......and I think you're right.....God was created rather than the other way around. It's all arrogance and God is way too big for our little pea brains to even begin to comprehend.
