Along these lines, I once heard something that really cracked me up: In Catholicism, the Pope's infallible, but nobody believes it. In Mormonism, the Prophet's fallible, but nobody believes it.
LOL, I liked this. I am Episcopalian, so our denomination was started by King Henry VIII--bastion of pious living that he was.
Would you mind explaining? I really don't understand what you're trying to say, as Mormons also believe in only one diety.
The why Joseph Smith where does he come in?
Much like the Moonies and Rev Moon.
In order to be a Christian then acceptance of Jesus is the basis of the faith.

Joseph Smith is a prophet, just like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, etc. We don't worship him anymore than other Christians worship Old Testament prophets.
The real name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Acceptance of Jesus Christ is definitely an integral part of the church.
Could you be a bit more specific?Which beliefs are so 'clearly misguided' in your opinion?
Joseph Smith is not a prophet, not according to the Bible. It is very straightforward, and the mormon belief is contrary to the Bible. No different than Camping's message.

I'm sorry,I may not be very bright, could you again be more specific?Where in the bible does it state Joseph Smith isn't a prophet?Which beliefs exactly are contrary to the bible? It may be very straightforward and clear to you but its not to me.
In regard to 'campings message' it really isn't much different than the constant ,hysterical 'rapture any day now' threads that appear constantly from fundamentalist christians on this forum....they just don't set a specific date. Most christian groups believe Jesus will return eventually....the lds among them, but I haven't encountered many mormons that are fixated on the subject...'latter-day saints' or not
