What is everyone's view on Rev. Fred Phelps. I hear he plans on getting a group together to protest the funerals of the victims of the recent Min. bridge tragedy. He has been quoted as saying the bridge incident is "an act of God".

To me this guy is the reason why there is so much hate toward Christians. He is completely out of line in my opinion. This is tasteless, and does not represent what a Christian should be all about. This guy makes my blood boil

"The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., plans to stage protests at funerals of victims of the 35W bridge collapse to state that God made the bridge fall because he hates America, and especially Minnesota, because of its tolerance of homosexuality"

"The Rev. Fred Phelps, founder of Westboro Baptist Church in, Topeka, Kan., contends that American soldiers are being killed in Iraq as vengeance from God for protecting a country that harbors gays."

He's a fruitloop, in my estimation! He's ugly, hateful, and puts a bad taste in the mouth of everyone, Christian or otherwise. And, at the risk of trying to say that I know what God thinks, I rather suspect Phelps leaves with Him with a bad taste as well. Frankly, I think the man, (and his followers), ought to be taken out behind the proverbial woodshed!

He doesn't represent any legitimate Christian group and is generally recognized as a complete nut job. Christians are just as repulsed by his actions as atheists.

Fred Phelps, won't give him the title of Reverend, is what Christianity is not about. God does not hate America or Minnesota or Gay people Mr. Phelps.

You need to leave Kansas if you think God hates America and go live in another country and take the rest of the people who feel this way with you.

Since I live in the Twin Cities and have co-workers who travel across that bridge daily, and was supposed to go that way on the day it collapsed I am beyond disgusted and offended by this self righteous person. As Noland, I will not give him a title of Rev.

I may go search this guy out while he's here, slap him around a few times and share the real Jesus with him. I hope Minnesotans knock him around and don't let him get away with this. This is not freedom of speech. This is pure hate from the devil spewing from this person (can't even refer to him as a man, because a real man does not act like this).
