The Bible is the written word of God,inspired by God and written by man.
I grew up in a Christ-ian home/family as a child and we had prayer meetings every night and we read the Bible and had to give our thoughts on it.
As an adult, I have found it to be very fascinating as it contains a little of everything, romance, battle, good and bad chronicles of events.
I find that by reading the Bible, I gain strength from God to live daily and it encourages and gives me hope, it is actually a source of my optimism and keeps me happy.

It is recommended that before reading the Bible that you pray and ask God to give you an understanding of what you are about to read, ask Him for revelation knowledge, then take it from there. It is also good to go to a "good" church but I would suggest that you pray about that too, and ask God to direct you there so that you can getting better understanding of what the Bible has to say.
I will pray that God will address the concerns in your heart.

Reading the Bible, going to church, getting baptized, none of that makes anyone a Christian, only a personal relationship with Jesus and asking Him to forgive you of your sins can do that. Anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit cannot understand spiritual things, it makes no sense to them.

We should read the Bibles (not just the New Testament but the Old Testament and Quran as well) because it's important to understand where people are coming from. I've read each book multiple times and every time I read it, the absurdity and unbelievablity becomes more and more crystalized for me.

I do think it's a little silly that when people are searching for a belief, they are told to read the Bible. The Bible is a cold, dead book if you have no belief in it and it is only the belief that makes the horrible things in it seem ok.

If you read the Bible and you are not touched by it, then I truly think something is definitely wrong with you. The messages in the Bible and the Quran are so simple yet so powerful and full of wisdom. I guess, when people that do not believe are described as being "blind", I cannot think of a more perfect description. God is truly amazing!

If you read the bible and you are touched by it,then I truly think you are already brainwashed by Christians and lost the ability to think independently.

Reading the Bible will not make you a Christian anymore than serving the army can turn boys into men.
If you weren't already a man before you went into the army, you certainly won't be your own man after you joined the army. The army doesn't need or want men who can think for themselves; they only want soldiers who are willing to obey orders without any question.
Without a clear chain of command and soldiers who are willing to lay down their lives for their superiors, most armies will crumble to dust.

Very wrong! Actually, I am a believer and I do not belong to any church. The Bible itself is a very powerful book and has very little to do with the modern American idea of "Christianity". I am still very able to think independently and the Bible is a great source of guidance for those who believe. The Bible has very little to do with organized religion in my opinion. God is great!
