Jeff: Pssst...a word to the wise. Forget the whole proof-thing. Just say you have decided you have enough evidence to justify your belief and that you're okay with it not being enough to convince a skeptic.
Bingo!
Overnight, your blood pressure will go down and those blisters on your fingertips will have time to heal.
You can spend more time with your cat or dog. Watch some TV. Go bowling.
Life can be good when you're not fighting losing battles all day.

Proof is different than persuasion, Dude. We can show you all sorts of proof for God's existence...but we can't persuade you. You would have to have an open mind for that to happen.

If I thought you'd actually read it, I'd post it. But instead I'll direct you to the search function. Do a search for "cosmological argument". I'm sure you can find several posts I've made over the last couple years about it. But again....that's just a proof...it does nothing to persuade if your mind isn't open to it.

we start with what we have then assign proper weights. The main thing is that we understand it is ok to change ones mind with new stuff gods shows you.

My mind is open to a lot of things. I don't discount the possibility of an afterlife, for instance. I'm intrigued about ghosts and UFOs.
In fact, I'm the kind of atheist who drives other atheists crazy because I don't slam the door on things most atheists wouldn't even consider thinking about.
BUT ...
The issue I have is how the cosmological argument proves that it is all because of YOUR specific God and how that means your specific religion is true.
Making a case for a supernatural entity is a far cry from making a case for the Christian God of the Bible.

I haven't suggested that it does prove the God of the Bible. It proves that there is a God. It's more than adequate to prove that. If you're mind is open to reading it. I haven't seen that you are, though.
These are all logically consistent....so I must revert to faith.
wow, so many pages in one day.
The problem is what lavel of faith? We are to assign proper weights and understand the emotional component to those weights. Faith in what? whats in your or my head? Faith that if I was abused, mental or addicted I could see clearly? I don't think so. I do not have to take those opinions seriously because a person spit them out, or pulled them out.
