You seem awfully sure about that.
Don't you think it's at least possible that I might be right?
It's very similar to the question of god. Gods are possible, but very unlikely. You could be right, but it's very unlikely. Basically, you are advocating a high probability for something that (1) doesn't warrant it and (2) isn't needed to explain reality and (3) has no predictive power at all.
It's amazing how wrong you can be and not even realize it
Well, there is absolutely no evidence of it. Unless I am so blind I cannot see. But, if you have evidence that I have not seen, please don't hold back.
Like starting with the conclusion that evolution is totally blind and not aided by any intelligence?
Who came to that conclusion? One has only to look at the history of plant and animal domestication to see evolution guided by intelligence. We call it selective breeding, where we augment and shift the natural selection criteria to produce an outcome we like. We similarly use genetic algorithms in engineering design optimization problems.
But the real question you are posing is do we have evidence of our evolution being shaped by some outside intelligence. I would argue the answer is no. But that certainly doesn't rule it out. What would be needed would be a good testable theory of how such manipulation might have occurred. One way would be dramatic climatic shifts. So, for example one might speculate that the Chicxulub Asteroid was intentionally launched at earth by aliens to cause an extinction event. The next step would be to find a way to falsify this. How do you propose we distinguish between intelligent intervention and natural processes and random chance?
