How could you possibly know this? It would be more accurate, based on his actions, that if he did have an association with a religion it was for deceitful and political objectives.

There are so many contradictions in his statements at various times that it can be tough to get much of grip on his theological stance, if any. While he was born into the Catholic Church and actually did receive some support of sorts from Rome, Catholicism was hardly the driving force behind his actions.

You really need to study a little history. Try these quotes from the man himself:

In Mein Kampf: "Therefore, I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews, I am doing the Lord's Work."

Speech at a Nazi Christmas celebration in 1926: "Christ was the greatest early fighter in the battle against the world enemy, the Jews ... The work that Christ started but could not finish, I -- Adolf Hitler -- will conclude."

In a Reichstag speech in 1938: "I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord's work."

Speaking to Gerhard Engel in 1941: "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so."

Thanks for helping someone who would've been lazy and just argued back and forth instead of actually looking for what you did. I was convinced I was going to be debating for 10 more posts.

Hitler was a paradox all right, to use an understatement.

He also said this:

Quote:
The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.... Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.... ...the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.... Christianity [is] the liar.... We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State.

When you're my age and have spent so many years hearing the accusation thrown about that you are like Hitler because you're an atheist, you come to know very well where to find the counter-arguments.

Yeah, I guess when I get that age, I'll know every argument against atheism and every rebuttal, lol. Sounds like fun. I'm already starting to learn a lot of their responses when you get annoyed with them..

"You are angry"..

"I'll pray for you"..

etc..

In the 1930s, all members of the National Socialist Party who were also members of the Catholic Church were excommunicated by the Catholic Church in Germany.

Hitler had a gift, if you will, for saying what the audience du jour wanted to hear.

Just as many of his rantings were directed against religion as were directed otherwise.

Not that I'm Catholic...I just don't buy into the mindset that if there were no religion there would be no war. We're hardwired to be tribal and territorial beings. Our prehistoric ancestors were bonking each other on the head with rocks way before religion came into the picture.

There would be war without religion. Many of us just see that there have been ridiculous killings committed in the name of religion. There will always be war. That's human nature.

Thats exactly what I've been saying.

The underlying cause of war is actually territoralism.
