What is it...or what do you think it is.
Seems to be often mocked and a threat..why?
Also, it seems people looking 'at' something through a window label it New Age, not
the person speaking or writing...why?
And then dismiss what is said.
Seems what is said, that is called New Age talk, is ancient talk...and often not something Jesus would
have any argument about....but would put the person at the head of the class! ha!

The term was coined pretty much with the "hippies" who started looking for spiritual experience outside the mainstream Christian norm. Possibly one of the first seeds was Robert Graves' The White Goddess in which that "Mother Nature" archetype was investigated giving rise to formulation of wicca that sought to sort of build something new on the concept, as I recall. From there spiritualities old and new were invented and investigated and the movement toward such open thought was projected to be a "New Age" of spiritual awareness sometimes called "The Age of Aquarius" The point here is that old and new were sort of lumped together into a non-mainstream Christianity grouping that had nothing to do with the age of the faith tradition but of its "newness" to a whole generation of "spiritual seekers" lumped together with new inventions and imaginative "recreations" like modern "druidism" that may bear passing resemblance to what Druidism was in the Celtic world, all under the banner of "New Age." It is primarily thinking outside the box that objectors to the classification find so horrible.

Just a general idea off the top of my head, which bears some resemblance to the way it happened anyway.

Wow, I can't connect to the CARM sites listed above, but I guarantee it will be a seriously jaundice view of what it is about. CARM is that way.

Yup. I am remiss in not mentioning the influence of Zen and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Mainenance but no one who has never pored through various editions of The Whole Earth Catalog is going to "get" "New Age."

New age, New era, New epoch, and how about a New earthly society -> 2nd Peter 3:13
New ' governing ' heavens, and a New earth meaning a cleansed earth.
As the old adage says a New broom sweeps clean.
Jesus, as that figurative New Broom, sweeps the earth clean of the wicked as per Isaiah 11:3-4; Rev. 19:14-16.
Then Jesus, as Prince of Peace, will usher in global Peace on Earth among persons of goodwill.
Starting with such people as the humble and righteous figurative 'sheep' people of Matthew 25:31-33,37.

I recall back in the 60's it was said there were more intelligent people born under the sign of Aquarius and more people in jail born under the sign of Aquarius.
Thus the questions was whether the Age of Aquarius was a' whole new awakening' destined for GREATness or destined for MADness.

Instead of the Age of Aquarius I find the Bible speaks of the Age of Christ.
The Thousand-Year Age of Jesus, as King of God's Kingdom, governing over Earth for a thousand years.-1st Cor. 15:24-26.
That is the time when Jesus will fulfill God's promise to father Abraham that ALL families of Earth will be blessed, and ALL nations of Earth will be blessed.
Blessed with the benefit of food and healing for earth's nations when mankind will see the return of the Genesis ' tree of life' on Earth.
- Genesis 12:3; 22:18; Rev. 22:2.
