I was raised Pentecostal and was taken to revival meetings as a young boy in the early 50's. Had I been older I might have found it entertaining, in an incredible and ghastly sort of way. But as a little guy I only found it terrifying.

My wife's parents also took her to those kinds of things and she and her sister were scared, too. Thankfully, they did come to the Lord later in life.
I'm sorry that some people only know nonsense like this as Christianity. I really am.

I remember one time sitting in an assembly of god church meeting once and was right behind the preacher's kid who was probably 12 or 13 at that time. I glanced over his shoulder and while his dad was preaching. The kid was drawing caricatures of his dad and other big shots in the church. They were actually quite well done.
I thought his dad was pretty much an arrogant buffoon. From the looks of the drawings it appeared that the kid did as well.
