The original article does have religious aspects, but is also very much about liberty and progress.

I think you want to connect it more directly to Christianity than makes sense because you want it to be linked to Christianity. And that's fine if that's what you need, but I don't deem that very credible.
Please don't assume my motivations.

You have already been proven incorrect on that subject a number of times already.

We are speaking of the United States of America, not a Muslim or Jewish state. Attempting to state that Manifest Destiny wasn't a Christian principle, especially when applied to our expansionism during the height of the begining of the theocratic agenda influences in this nation (which began in the 1830's), is once again, being intellectually dishonest.

No not my definition, God's.
"No True Scotsman Fallacy"

Christians are, as cheilgirl pointed out, self identified.

A christian is someone who believes in, and actively worships in some manner, a divine Christ figure.

That is the only qualifier neccessary.

Considering the thousand plus Christian Sects avialable, attempting to nail down a "true Christian" through the manner in which they act is not only an excersise in futility, but an attempt to state that the particular manner in which YOU worship Christ is the only "one true way".

you know what I hate? when someone calls you a cafeteria christian. That makes me soo mad, like you have no idea about these peoples lives, hearts, feelings, experiences, and you just take the most talked about issues and if they don't fit your a.b.c. you're a better Christian than them. There are 26 letters in the alphabet (...I think...lol) and much more aspects than that to being a good Christian. Plus, you don't think these people are concerned about where they feel they fall short? It just seems so unwelcoming.

Someone (I honestly don't remember who) once said, 'Hell always happens to *other people*'.

I'm finding that to be resoundingly true: when it comes to hellfire and damnation, it's almost always the *other* person that's going there, rather than themselves.

So, yes, I find such people to be hypocrites -- blaming others and pronouncing that eternal torture will rain down, in the belief that *they* are somehow 'immune', even though they do the same things as the rest of us.

I know you believe the things you are saying are facts. Therefore any disagreement I make is inherently invalid for you. I believe you have not proven or disproven anything and further I think any reasonable observer would feel the same. (Granting that a reasonable observer might say neither of us proved anything correct or incorrect)

Still the matter is off-topic and closed. If you wish to discuss your theories of history with me in an appropriate topic perhaps I can get myself booked at a conference and tell you where it's at.

If you cannot offer simply disqualification of anything I have posted here, I'm certain you wouldn't be able to do it in person.

I will take your above comments as a simple "I cannot refute anything you have posted" and let the matter drop.

The best rule of thumb, if it feels good, STOP!

Probably like most things christians do. They're too busy throwing stones and accusing others to ever take a moment to examine themselves.
