One thing that drove me nuts in church was all the preaching about men and pornography. It was so frequent that I became convinced that it was to appease the guilt of whoever was doing the preaching. I clean for a home health company and I have this one old guy on Tuesdays who sits there listening to his gospel music, playing his christian radio stations, house plastered with christian stuff, talking to me about church stuff...well today he asked me to help him with his television and noticed he had a whole stack of adult movies. D a m n hypocrite....just like the rest. God I hate _____ .

Christians are sinners just like anyone else. He knows porn is wrong , but he struggles with the temptation, no differant than anything else that people are tempted with. Instead of calling him a hypocrite ,politely tell him that those arent appropriate(unless that wouldnt be allowed by your employer of course).
I find it funny how if non religous people do something that they are ashamed to have people know about its just wierd, but if its a Christian or religous person, that makes them a hypocrite.

It's really not that funny or odd when you consider that most non-Christians, and specifically atheists, don't tell others how to live their lives or explain to them that if they don't do x, they'll be sent to y.

On the other hand, many Christians do. So when they embarrass themselves and do the wrong thing, it's just fun to poke fun at. That's all.

or , if non-religous people do stuff.... its OK..because there is nothing really wrong.. they can do whatever, with nobody to answer to. but if a Christian does the same thing..than oh, your bad.
Same thing only worded differant I know. Christians just know that what they do is wrong & do it sometimes anyway..they sin, like I said, just like anyone else. Hopefully they understand its a sin.

Wrong.

I would argue that many atheists have far-more defined morals than Christians do. The problem is that in Christianity, repenting is an easy solution to sinning. We all as humans, have a conscience, however, atheists don't have a little out-clause for when they do something naughty: which is to ask God to forgive you. And of course, since you're the one conducting both sides of the conversation, he always does forgive you.

Are there bad atheists? Of course. There are bad people everywhere. But because humanists and atheists don't shout off at the mouth and preach to you on the street corner about sin, then it's simply not as funny.

What does work though is this analogy:

When those who preach environmentalism drive SUV's. This is analogous to what I was talking about earlier, and I'd recommend using it because your argument that atheists don't feel bad about doing bad is insanity and ruins any credibility you may have had.

well, as far as my comment about athiests not feeling bad or knowing when theyve done something wrong was an exageration for the most part. my point is humans do bad things...Christians are humans, now, them asking God for forgiveness, You can like it or not. But they belive god forgives. I dint use to understand it myself..I do now, it makes sense to me.

maybe this is a better example. lets say this is a storey in the local paper:
A springfield area cab driver was arrested today for sliciting a prostitute on the north side.
or :
A Springfield cab driver was arrested today for soliciting a prostitute on the North side, Mr. XXX is also an Elder @ First Christian Church.
If the naughty person does somsthing bad ,& his a church goer, they make sure everyone knows about it, & what church that person goes to. but the other guy, ahhh, hes just a cab driver

Stepside, I think you're confusing going to church and being a leader of a church. Priests mollesting children is newsworthy. Pastors committing fraud against their patronizers are news worthy because of the position of power both are in.

But when people who attend church commit a crime, I don't know of a paper in this country that states where they simply attended church. If it does happen, it is in small towns of minimal populations. It's never happened in any of the places I've lived.

Can I see an example of this?

Most Americans consider themselves to be Christians. When these people commit crimes (the U.S. jail system is filled overwhelmingly with Christians), but how many times have you read that person x was a Christian when he committed the crime?

I think you're a good person and I've enjoyed talking with you, I just think we happen to disagree a bit. Have a good rest of the day. Let's both not commit crimes today lol

Just because he listens to Christian music, has a house full of Christian stuff, and talks to you about church stuff does not mean he is a Christian.

The problem Christians have, as I see it, is that so many things are considered sins that are perfectly legal, fun and ok for the nonreligious..... I have sex outside of marriage....no problem. I use a condom, no problem.... If I curse,no problem. It's just words. I watch an X rated movie, no problem...The poor Christians have to do without a lot of the joys of this life in the vain hope of joy in the next. Some denominations are so strict that it seems joy and happiness are sinful. They have a tough row to hoe.
