What's interesting, is how would you explain all of the laws and the moral codes that the Native American's have had for centuries and came into existence before anything about the Christian sacred book was ever heard of by these people, our moral codes and laws were far more strict than those of the Christian sacred book and had been in existence for thousands of years before the Christian sacred book was written.

Did someone mention this and I missed it? For me there is only one way to determine the morality of any given action.

"Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You"

I'm an atheist, but the Golden Rule works for me.

Actually if you want an example of morality, it won't be found in the bible, especially the old testament. Violence, murder, rape, incest, slavery, pedophilia, genocide and general bloodshed and mayhem are all common in that book.

Morality comes from God. We can learn how to be moral by reading God's word.

If we base our morality on family or a person, which person is moral and right? If we base it on a society, which one is right?

God has given us, as part of our human make-up, a concience. This is that deep down part of us that gives us a bad feeling if we do something wrong. It however does not stop us from doing wrong and after we have done things that are morally wrong our conciences become seared. We enjoy the immediate pleasures of the immoral act over the long term benifits of being moral. But it is written, that "the wages of sin is death". Sinful and immoral things will ultimately cause death.

We can repair our conciences however, for the bible gives the remedy. It says, "whatso ever thing is good, and pure, is praise worth, is of good report if there be anything truthful and praiseworthy, think on these things." So, we can regain our moral standing. Further the bible is good, so to think upon the things of the word of God will cause this renewing of our minds. If we read the word we find God and his Son, Jesus and the gift of Salvation.

Was the bible written in a closet? No, it is open for all, and eternal. The word of God came to Noah and his Sons and God gave Noah commandments which Noah taugh his children. All have decended from Noah and his three sons: Shem, Ham and Jaseph, so all nations have a memory of the Morality of God. So, a nation or a people does not need the bible to be moral, however, being moral does not get you into heaven, it is only through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is written that "the heavens declare the glory of God", so no one is without excuse. All are going to hell becase they have been born into sin as a child of Adam and are without excuse because the revelation of God is written into this universe around us. And the whole world knows of Jesus Christ, the son of God who is our salvation.

Yes, when you look at the warped morality of man, fortunately God is pure and perfect and righteous. That is why he is called holy, or "separated". He is apart from this evil.

"The Bible has been used for centuries by Christians as a weapon of control. To read it literally is to believe in a three-tiered universe, to condone slavery, to treat women as inferior creatures, to believe that sickness is caused by God's punishment and that mental disease and epilepsy are caused by demonic possession. When someone tells me that they believe the Bible is the 'literal and inerrant word of God,' I always ask, 'Have you ever read it'?" Bishop John Shelby Spong.

The only one that exists, the God of Abraham, Issaic and Jaccob. The God of the Christian bible, the God of the Torah. The one we refer to as Jesus Christ.
