These are beliefs, not facts. You understand the difference, right?

Reading it and believing it to be true are two different things.

There is zero evidence he did not. A stauros is a pole, which mean he could have been simply hung on a pole, or carried the cross beam (Patibulum) which was then attached to the pole in either a cross or T form. In fact the earliest description of the shape (the Epistle of Barnabas) says it was a T form.

Since it was created by men, when you think you are reading God's infallible word, you are worshiping it as a representative of God. That is called worshiping an Idol.

I think much less of Jehovah's Witnesses and their beliefs after reading what they post on this forum than I did before.

Previously, I worked with two ladies who were JW's. One was very sweet and kind. The other was more like the ones who post on here--unpleasant, full of herself, judgmental of others.

The handful who have come to the door over my lifetime seemed nice. I guess they are trained to put on a "nice" appearance in order to reel people in. If they showed their true selves, they'd likely be rejected earlier.

I am a JW but was not raised as one. Every segment of society has those which put on a pretense or don't reflect the values of their faith. We are united in our beliefs but we are not uniform and surprise, surprise we aren't perfect and don't claim to be.

As a group JWs don't kill others even if it costs them their own lives
As a group JWs do not use the political/legal system to enact legislation or laws to take away the rights of others who may lead opposite or different lifestyles
As a group JWs obey the laws of the land.
As a group JWs try to live moral lives but do not impose their beliefs on others.

Not bad if the most one can say is I don't like them because some have been unpleasant, judgmental of others or full of themselves or because they ring or knock on my door.

Impose, no. Put pressure on, very much so.

I think that my biggest criticism of the religion is the cutting off family members or other loved ones because they do not share their religious beliefs.

JWs are not the only religious group with this practice.

I certainly had their beliefs imposed on me. It didn't help that I was one of six kids who was a non-believer. There was no choice for me and I was forced into baptism at 13, which resulted in me being disfellowshipped and kicked out of my home at 18 because I questioned the JW's beliefs on rock music which I never saw as evil. That all happened 50 years ago, but I still feel the affects to this day.
