Well, my son informed my husband and me, quite enthusiastically, in fact, that his girlfriend is the same religion as he is: Ex-LDS. I guess he thought that would make us happy, and in a way, it did. What's most important is that he be with someone who loves him.
for me, in general, the same perspective, morals, and expectations seem to work in a marriage. They can/do overlap, with people anywhere in the world. My parent were fairly strong theist. I was ashiest by like 3rd grade. I had to stand up to groups of people and say and saying "yeah arach, its all of us and not you.". My parents always said "your fine".
When we look around and see the problems we do we could make a quantum leap by just addressing "How to train your dragon.". We can look at the news to see it is more complicated than that, but just parenting is quantum leap.
I would say, based on what I see at CD, its far more a parenting issue than a religion one. Its just that some people can't blame their loved ones. The ones that can and/or see their role, tend to be the less militant of bunch.
What's scary for me is that I didn't realize how much some of you hate them, and I do not think they have any idea either. I wouldn't want any my children to marry anyone who tends to otherize whole groups.

Their gang leader just needs to whisper in their ear to sacrifice their child.
Their gang leader sacrificed its own son.
How much happy feelings would you have towards them?
As long as they don't marry anyone who thinks they are superior and/or a know-it-all (out to save/defend 24/7) it's fine.
