Since Babyboomers2 is concerned with crowding and growth, I thought I'd also pull data on population density per square mile for him. This also comes from the U.S. Census Bureau. It is data for 2010 and 2020, so it historical data; it may or may not reflect what will happen in the future in the various locations. For that, one would probably want to turn to local government data on housing permits/developments/housing starts and so on. But this gives an idea of how the areas grew in terms of DENSITY PER SQUARE MILE between 2010 and 2020.

Population density by Square Mile 2010 compared to 2020:

Reno 2010: 2,186 people per square mile 2020: 2,428 11% increase

Carson City 2010: 382 2020: 405 6% increase 2010 to 2020

Henderson 2010: 2,392 2020: 2,989 25% increase

Loveland 2010: 1,990 2020: 2,219 11% increase

Just for fun, here are the changes for population density per square mile for other places the OP has considered:

Sparks, NV: 2010: 2,524 2020: 2,976 17% increase

Cheyenne WY 2010: 2,019 2020: 2,425 20% increase

Sheridan (city of) WY 2010: 1,477 2020: 1,596 8% increase

Prescott AZ 2010: 963 2020: 1,019 6% increase

Hope this information is helpful for Babyboomers2 and his wife. For future reference, you can look up Census data for any town over 5,000 people at the U.S. Census Bureau Quick Facts site here: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fa...e/US/PST045223

As a Consolidated Municipality
(City consolidated with county) ,Carson City's population density is best compared to other counties.

But the other city info should help understand how they feel.

Agree. I just don't have time to go county by county, but good point about Carson City's data being for county. I noticed that the CB has CC City and CC county but data is the same. Obviously that makes the pop per square mile a bit misleading when comparing to other counties.

If someone has really interested, there is Census tract data. I'd assume inner Carson City is probably over 2,000 people / sq. mi. on average and almost certainly above 1500. It could potentially be closer to or over 3k in at least some areas.

Yep, some CC Census tracts are 2.5k to 5k per sq. mi. Assume large apartment complexes are in dense parts of town. I did not feel interested in pursuing more than that confirmation.

Anyone that cared a lot can even get block level data.

If someone wanted a spot under 500 sq. mi. population, there appears to be some of that too and more in neighboring counties.

Northwestern Nevada is a very diverse region of the state. Incline Village is the most expensive zip code with Verdi (where I-80 comes into Nevada) is the 2nd most expensive. We live 18 miles Northwest of town in the Cold Springs valley. Our rain runoff flows to a lake in the valley and only evaporates. Go Southwest on 395 and you go thru North valleys before dropping down into the valley where Reno proper is. West Reno gets more moisture and has more natural vegetation. The Airport in the center only gets 7 inches of rain on average. Sparks is just East and in mainly North of the Truckee River spreading out thru a valley where the road goes to Pyramid lake. While mostly newer it is a Desert valley. Just South of Reno is the Washoe valley which can stay green and has pines to the west giving way to desert on its East side. Further South is Carson City and the perception it's small is misunderstood. It feeds Stateline and Southlake Take and to its East has Dayton which is Lyon county and the Bunny Ranch. A bit further South is the Carson valley which still has some agriculture mixed with properties with 2 to 40 acres. Genoa sits at the base of the Kingsbury grade and is very old and expensive. At the Southern most end of the valley is Gardenerville Minden which has a small town feel more so than Carson. The problem with statistics is they can be cherrypicked. Example, Carson doesn't stop at the Lyon county line and continues thru Dayton. Fish from the Carson river from Dayton East are not recommended to be consumed. Water from the Truckee is diverted to improve water quality in Lake Lahontan. People who receive Truckee river water have the highest quality compared to those to the South. We're well water here and it must be filtered. Point is quality of life is greater than size of region.
