And I have always loved sexy, gorgeous-voiced Dmitri Hvorostovsky baritone who was out of this world in "Eugene Onegin"

Default Leontyne Price at 58

Just found on Youtube - Leontyne Price, the great American soprano, her final performance of Verdi's "O Patria Mia" (O My Homeland) from "Aida" (the Met, 1985)--she was 58 years old. Kind of makes you wonder about age...what greatness....

‪Leontyne Price Opera Farewell "O patria mia"‬‏ - YouTube

20 minute standing ovation.

most memorial live performance? Has to be the first live performance I ever went to~ Buddy Holley, Ritchie Valens, and the big bopper at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa.

They still do tribute shows at the Surf every year in february as a memorial.

I've seen T-Shirts that say "Yes, I'm Old But I Got to See All the Great Bands".

For me, the most electrifying, absolutely the best live rock production of all time was FREDDIE MERCURY's performance with QUEEN at LIVE AID in 1985. What a showman FREDDIE was -- and the way he worked that crowd was pure genius.

The concert to which he's referring is the one in which all three peformers gave on Feb. 2, 1959, before famously dying in a plane crash on their way to the next venue in the early morning hours of Feb. 3rd.

Otherwise known as The Day The Music Died.

(Just as an aside, it's spelled Holly.)

Now I'm reminded of the King - early years.

No one of that genre has the deep richness or the vocal range...(maybe Orbison)
