Bella, - Glad to hear your trip is going nicely. When I think of Nice, France, I think of this line in "Little Women"...
.At three o'clock in the afternoon, all the fashionable world at Nice may be seen on the Promenade des Anglais––a charming place, for the wide walk, bordered with palms, flowers, and tropical shrubs, is bounded on one side by the sea, on the other by the grand drive, lined with hotels and villas, while beyond lie orange orchards and the hills."
It was where Amy met Laurie, again, and they fell in love. I first read that book when I was 8 or 9 years old and have read it a number of times since, but always remember that line. I have always thought I would like to visit that exact place. I am pretty sure I am seen it in a travelogue -- my Hubby and I love to watch Rick Steves on PBS.
MEO Glad to hear that Marigold is starting to do some cuddling. Forgot to ask, did she come with her name? I'm guessing she did since you know she is 5. It is a nice name for an orange tabby.
Meo92953: I have always found my fur-babies at the local SPCA and it seems all the animals have really unusual names. Names I didn't like. I can't remember what name my little girl had but when she came to live with me she became GG.
The big boy was named Tango. That just didn't roll off my tongue. So he is known as Sam, Sammy, etc.
They both adapted to their new identities and I'm so glad I have them, tho Sam can be irritating at times (he goes after little GG too hard, there is a 3 lb. difference in their size). GG was very shy, didn't want to be held, etc while Sam loves to be held and is very affectionate. GG has watched him over the months and she has started to get the idea. She comes to sit on my lap a few times every day, each time staying a bit longer.
I wanted & want her to be comfortable & happy. She is thriving & I am so glad I got her out of that cage & she has the freedom to prowl around the apartment & be free. She seems really happy too.
After a cool rain/snow all day yesterday clear sky and 27 this morning with heavy frost. Perfect! Back from my sunrise 2 mile walk with the dogs. Forecast high today 60, good day to go trout fishing.

Please send some of that weather over to northern California. They need it to help control the wildfires!
Yes. The situation in California is terrible. Now over 2,000 homes destroyed. The cost of housing there is so expensive. I am guessing if people are fortunate enough to still have a job remaining, they will have some difficulty in finding temporary housing. They should hopefully have some insurance coverage, but it is very difficult to start from scratch.
I just want to say to those who live near or have been affected by the California fires, I feel so sad you are going through this. Something I read yesterday really hit me as I had not thought of it, so many people (retired?) had spent the last of their money to have a wonderful retirement home. So tragic.
Praying and thinking of you all. God bless you. Stay safe.
I think I had mentioned the young lady we know who was made homeless by hurricane Harvey, in Houston. The good news is that she has found an apartment and moved in Oct. 1st. Also good news is that, although her renter's insurance did not cover flood damage, FEMA did help her out a little bit. Now she will slowly be filling her apt with furniture, and all those mundane but useful things. She is thankful, for sure. Just thought I would share a bit of good news!
^^^^^^^^^ Thank you for sharing this very good news!
