Good post. I know my neighbors and I pay attention to whether there is noise or if we've seen someone. The manager also typed up our emergency folks & it is posted on the inside of the door.
Back when I was still working there was one woman in her 70's who was a heavy smoker & could barely walk. I tried & tried to get her to approve more help & finally agreed to see me twice a week. Well, before the week was out, she'd fallen & a neighbor noticed her shades didn't move & called 911. She had to go to the hospital, then a nursing home, where she passed on. If only she'd agreed to have a device, she would not have been on the floor so long. I'm sure that was part of her early demise, as was not having cigarettes. That type of going cold turkey had to be hard for her.

Can I add that for myself, the Dr said to call my regular Dr & suggested I have a colonoscopy. I just had one a year ago, after my annual physical. This is one of the not fun tests & I hope they can figure out something else. Waiting on my Dr's nurse now as to what my Dr wants me to do. That test on a 1-10 basis is -20.

One night last summer, the 75 year old who lives nearby came over, calling my name softly as she came onto the porch so she wouldn't scare me. Her message? That DH couldn't get ahold of me and was worried, would I please call him.

My ringer has never been off ever since. I was embarrassed, but it's nice to know I have neighbors I can count on. I just try hard not to use them.
Oh, I'm so glad everything turned out OK for you. Big lesson for all of us, not to turn off our ringers. Thank you for reminding us all.

I am so sorry you are going through this . . . keep asking questions. Sometimes, a doc will do diagnostic tests as a "fishing expedition" and sometimes, it is totally necessary to pinpoint a problem . . . but if it isn't totally necessary - maybe there is an alternative if you insist upon exploring options.

In any case, wishing you the best with getting some answers.

Eek, meo, my heart goes out to you. Get better soon. Hugs!

I never gave it a thought that there's no city living forum until I wanted to start e thread called moving back to suburbia from the country. Where should I post it? House? Moving issues?

Meo: The test may be a minus 20 but it can save your life and it only lasts a little while. A very very good physician friend I knew for 30 years died of colon cancer and I suspect he just did not want to do the test and take off from work.

It's only one day in your life. And I sincerely hope all comes out ok. Sending good wishes your way.

Default Ignore list - anyone use it?

I haven't had anyone on my ignore list for quite a while - better part of a year I'm sure, if not more. I was never able to keep anyone on the list very long anyway. Whenever I would get that "Do I need this?" feeling and put someone on it, I would just get curious after a while what they were saying and remove them.

Once a Retirement Forum poster who is no longer with us bragged he had about 40 people on ignore. I had to laugh at that, as I felt the statement said more about him than it did about the 40 people.

Once I tried to put a mod on the list (not necessarily related to the Retirement Forum in any way) and a message came up that mods cannot be placed on the ignore list. When I thought about it, it made perfect sense to me: Mods sometimes need to make general warning statements about threads, and we should all be expected to be able to see and read those. Also, I believe putting someone on ignore blocks their direct messages, and again, a mod may wish to send a direct message to a poster and should be able to do that.

Thanks. It's not the test itself, it's the two days of prep. But, yes, I will do what they say. I am tired of this & want it to end.

I've never put anyone on ignore in CD but have in other forum websites. There are some people who irritate me but not enough to put them on ignore. I've done the same thing, wanting to know what they were saying and removed them. Call it 'nosey' but I wanted to know! lol

I can't imagine having 40 people on ignore. That's a lot. It says that the poster is either a troll and likes to make people mad or so thin skinned they "can't take it". I dunno. I'm neither of those but have seen some who are.

I've never even thought to put anyone on ignore here. Just soaking up information. Some taken, some not.
