I was surprised when I lived in Olympia that I had to water my garden. It didn't rain much those summers. Summers were awesome. I learned in statistic class that Olympia gets the most rain so when I consider moving back I figure I've experienced the worse. I love rhubarb--picked and froze 38 cups and it looks like it's ready to pick again.
My friend use to show at that pottery show. She's about ready to give up making pottery and switch to jewelry. She said no one is buying pottery and everyone buys jewelry.
I went to a great concert in ABQ Sunday--really like the space - warehouse with a domed wood roof -- not free but reasonable and they give a free mocha latte in real cups. SUNDAY CHATTER | ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO USA
College and tourist towns are great for free or inexpensive things to do.

Kate6, Wisteria hasn't posted to this thread for about a year and a half, and I don't think to any threads on CD for many months. But I think things went well for her. Here's a post from last November telling what has happened to some of the early posters to this thread including Wisteria.

Jewelry easier to travel home with, easier to gift. But on a recent trip to San Francisco, 3 of 5 women had pottery shipped home. (From the Embarcadero crafts market.) Ahhh, San Francisco.....if I could afford it, that's where I'd retire to. Work long enough, maybe I could, lol.

Too many potters in Santa Fe. Fun to talk to all the artists but lots of competition. Jewelry is much easier to take to a show too.

As my real estate taxes keep zooming, I do wonder if I'll be able to stay here in retirement or semi-retirement (part-time work and collecting my pension). That really concerns me.
Still loving Sarasota, FL, It has it's flaws, but I very much still feel so lucky to live here each and every day. It does get a little loney when I go to the beach alone lately, but nothing beats the feel of the ocean waves on the body on a bright hot sunny day.
Recently joined my local Y; the one here is so beyond any of the others I've seen in my former locations. I started participating in activities with mostly seniors in the aquatic programs and am loving it, never seen so many vital active fun older folks at the gym having the time of their lives. Even the instructors for the aquatic programs are seniors. I've been so stoked by the programs, I might have over done it, so I will have to pull back just a bit, but boy are these people fun to be around. I'll just have to ease over to the side and accept I can't keep up with the 60, 70 and 80 year olds in the group.
What would make living here even more great is if I lived in a Golden girls type set up. I don't doubt that might happen in time.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
