Surprise! You can actually walk on the beach and people watch....you can sit in the shade...and you can apply SPF 50 sunscreen.

Walking on sand is not especially enjoyable. In fact unless the sand is packed, it is difficult.

I don't people watch. In fact I do very little in the way of being a spectator in life. I decided long ago that I would rather do things, than watch others do them. That would certainly include watching others walking on the beach.

The next town in around one mile away has no access to our beach. And the next town over lets folks who dont live in town go to beach, but you have to pay a lot as a non-resident.
What town do you live in? Didn't realize there were city-owned restricted beaches in FL.

Just bought a condo 1.8 miles from the beach. Does that count as beach retirement?

Ummmm, there is walking on the beach and walking along the beach. There are beaches with paths along with boardwalks that you can along with others stroll and enjoy. The wife and I love our evening walks along the beach. The trick is picking a place to live that has the paths or long board walk to walk on. Clearly beach life the old folks version of salt life isn't your thing and not on your list. But for others including me this is heaven and the power of the waves reminds us of the energy of the world.

We like to do both. On the beach early done usually around noon or a tad earlier as the sun gets high and then a evening stroll along either the same beach or often another one. Yup on the sun screen. Might not need to be 50 some might say.

Eating at the beach adds something to eating out and I am not sure what but it is certainly a plus. I know you love your beer and cigar and a beer makes me smile. The ocean is energy without restraint and for many of us the majesty of calm clouds over the energy flowing below is something I never tire of.

Ooooohhhhhh, you live within two - - count 'em two - - miles of water and 20 minutes to the beach. I'm impressed!!

As for me living in Nevada....

Here's a link to a photo taken from my living room sofa. Now, I believe you to be a reasonably intelligent person, so let me ask you a very simple question:

Does this look like Nevada to you?

This is my kind of beach retirement. Nice view of the beach front. This is why I am still leaning to a condo decision. Like you, it's about the view from the sofa/balcony. This category falls in number 2 from the first post.
