"Never say never" is one I use a lot.

The other would be "Pick your battles, life is short."

Just heard a new one on the news -

A faith that makes loosing a sin will make cheating a sacrament.

Sounds to me like the pot is calling the kettle black.

That would be going from the frying pan to the fire.

Another one from my mother in law -

With "if", you could put Paris in a bottle.

Along the same meaning-

If my grandma had wheels, she'd be a bus.
(the point again being that "if" doesn't mean much sometimes.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me

Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see---I *think* this may be from Edgar Allen Poe, but not sure

When people show you who they are, believe them.

This is one I made up and use often....

Longevity runs in the family but it ain't pretty....

This phrase came from one of my sorority sisters back in the 1970s and it's always stuck with me. I don't know the origin....

Strange, sad, but somehow symbolic...

The following is so true (which is why I'm divorced)...

Men...you can't live with them--and you can't LIVE with them.....
