When I left my apartment in Arizona, I gave most of my furniture and household goods to an organization that helps the homeless. I did keep some things and rented a small storage unit.
It feels good to not have all that 'stuff ' to worry about. I now have the freedom to travel without worrying about rent, utilities and the like. Storage is only costing me $54/month.
If/when I decide to settle down again I will buy or rent a furnished mobile home, but for now I want to explore national parks and the beauty of nature.
Kind of a warm, hazy day here due to the dust. Too warm and humid to have the windows open; definitely an A/C day. Dust is not that noticeable when you are just looking out the window but when I went out for a couple of milkshakes for lunch, you could really see the haze on the plateau about a half mile away.
Finally got around to contacting a realtor to get our land in the North Carolina mountains listed. Not one of our smarter moves to have bought it years ago. I read one time that one of the most common mistakes is to buy land for a retirement home many years before retirement as plans change so often; as our plans changed. But we are not in dire need of selling it right away; we'll get it listed and see what happens.
We are in the nice summer flower blooming season. Our purple coneflowers really are pretty as is our red cannas. Got a phlox named Fireworks which has started blooming just in time for the Fourth of July. My Franklin tree has over a hundred flower buds which should start to open in a week or so. Starting to pick some cherry tomatoes and the Rutgers tomato and the cucumbers are looking good. Looks like the bell pepper plants are not going to do much and the jury is still out on the zucchini.
With all that has been going on with the virus it does seem like the months have been moving kind of quickly. Another 75 days or so and we will be edging into autumn. I really like how no season here is too long. About the time I get tired of one, here comes the next.
The doorbell rang a few minutes ago and there were some roses and a hydrangea on the porch. The girls next door like to pick flowers and leave them for my wife. The one who is six years old said she does it because she wants my wife to be happy.
