Spend an hour or so reading about how to do this.
Search engines are helpful.

Maybe a class on how to code an app, but I am too lazy.
This thread is silly.
Silly for you maybe......very helpful for others. It is easy to scroll past threads, that you do not like.

BTW, it's called a screen protector, as opposed to a screen saver. A screen saver is something else. If you need to buy a piece of glass to protect your smartphone screen from cracks and scratches, ask for a "screen protector."
Thank you for that correction!
I couldn't fir the life of me think of the correct word, and knew screen saver was not correct.

See, even my older age affects my memory!

Yes screen PROTECTOR is an extra piece of glass that can Save your glass screen from scratch and damage.
It's best to order it right away and they'll apply it for you before using your phone.

Screen saver on your smartphone is the same as computer, your screen goes dark after an interval of non use.
If it goes dark quicker than you'd like, you can go to: settings>display then look for the time setting for your screen to go dark, it may be called something different on each smart phone.

BTW, you may find each phone uses a different word for something than a different phone, but still does the same.

The "settings" button is always a good place to look at all the options, and all the sub options to set or adjust your phone.
Some settings are factory set, and you have the opportunity to change that factory setting.
Each option should give you a quick message about what that setting dies if you opt to change it.

There is always a Help button, preloaded with common questions, or you can type a question, it may or may not answer your question.
Often helpful for simple question, but more complex may not have an answer.

It's just like preset apps may be in various locations set by factory, you might have it in a different place on a new phone, but once you know how to move an app shortcut button, you can move it to where you want, to customize your screen.

Please keep up the thread!

It may be meaningful to some and, or it may be meaningless if you already know the basics.

Best

Please this is not rocket science. Cellphones have built in QR code readers. Merely open the cellphone camera, point the camera to the code and a icon will appear that you can press for further information. This takes a minute to learn, not an hour or so.

Looks like this is turning into a "look how smart I am as opposed to how dumb you are" type of thread! Not everyone is at the same point on the learning curve of technology!

Sickening, isn't it. They all need to get together for mutual back-patting sessions. How juvenile, sheesh.

I have a smart phone, but don't know how EVERYTHING on it works because I've only spent time figuring out what I need.

I believe I inspired this thread when I complained in another thread that the QR reader app on my phone wanted to charge $25/month. I had never needed to read a QR code before, so didn't realize you just use the camera.
And no, I didn't pay $25, I deleted the app.

But I can imagine some people--seniors OR youth--might get suckered into paying for unnecessary apps because you don't just magically know stuff, you have to learn it. I'm hoping to pick up new tips from this thread.

We've used Tracfones for almost 20 years. We pay an annual fee (about $125 for a smartphone), which gives us all the talk, text, and data we need. YMMV.

They also have good deals on phones.

You'll use data when you aren't connected to wifi, so having GiGi LaTour talk you through every step of your journey is going to use data. Ditto for anything internet, and some games. Texts use data, at least on my plan. You can turn off data through Settings when you don't need it.
