More deadly guns and drugs taken off the street by law enforcement. Not bad for "non-functional". Outstanding police work!

A loaded .45, 50 doses of fentanyl, crack cocaine and a digital scale taken from the hands of criminals by law enforcement. Unless these gentlemen were heading to the police station to turn themselves in, I'd say we have a pretty good example of police preventing future crime. Any disagreement? Anybody?

No, someone else will step up to provide the service. If someone gets fired from Walmart, it doesn't put Walmart out of business. It probably doesn't even close down an aisle. To prevent that sort of crime, you've got to figure out a way to stop the demand. Throughout the history of humanity, no one has.
Or you can decriminalize it and give those people the chance at an honest profession. Unfortunately, that didn't happen with marijuana, where it was handed over to corporations and millionaires, and having experience in the trade made you ineligible for the newly legalized trade.

No? No, it didn't prevent future crime? No, it didn't because there'll be other, different crime in the future? So we may as well simply abolish the police. This is actually your position? Why bother to feed the hungry now, when there'll just be more hunger in the future? And your analogy to illegal guns and drugs is Walmart? It's extremely difficult to argue with this level of sophistication. And if youre admitting that demand can't be curbed, doesn't it follow that efforts be directed at supply? Being a contrarian is all well and good, but there's a proper time to put the shovel down.

So digging deeper still, short of stopping demand, you now propose the "decriminalization" of illicit fentanyl. One of the primary sources of overdose deaths in America. And this of course, will free up armed traffickers to find "honest professions". Seriously?
