There's been hardly any violent crime recently. And of the small amount we've heard about, it's been mostly stabbings. Did the PPD recently take a lot of guns off the streets? Has it become harder to get a gun in Providence?
Boston has also seen very little violent crime in 2024. I believe Boston has only 3 homicides this year. Providence has 2. Most people don't realize how closely connected the two cities are with the drug trade - which fuels much if not most of the violence.

Don't know but I've been wondering the same thing. There was recently a massive gang sweep in Boston, as well as some notable drug busts in both RI and MA. It could all play a role. We'll see what happens this summer. As they say, "when the sun comes out the ____ ____ ___".
They are reporting multiple shooting incidents in the city last night. In the first one, a man was approached by two gunmen while sitting in a vehicle on Althea St.. This is in the city's West End neighborhood. He ran into a nearby house, and the suspects began firing shots at him. There was damage to a house, and multiple shell casings were found at the scene.
In another incident, two employees (including a security guard) was shot at leaving the Paris Bistro and Lounge nightclub on Smith St. in the city's notorious Smith Hill neighborhood. Bullet holes were found on the side of the restaurant, and multiple shell casings were found at the scene.
