You know, I'm not any awesome looking guy or chiseled dude. I'm just kind of an ordinary dude-some flaws, some good characteristics.

Never had any trouble meeting or dating women in Richmond, and I didn't find it particularly different than the other cities I had lived in (well, other than Honolulu-but that's an extreme odd case). Eventually met and later married my wife, a pretty attractive woman from the West End-met her in Shockoe Bottom.

Maybe I just had spectacular luck. Maybe I just didn't have unrealistic expectations.

The reason everyone on here appears to be a downer is because there is some negative selection going on: The people who don't have problems meeting people are on here posting about it...

If you get out there and actually do some leg work and have confidence about yourself, you won't have any problem - I don't even try when I'm out and I have single women approach me out all the time.

I have a theory about it: If you are unable to have a good time in Richmond, then you are probably one of those people who can't have a good time anywhere. It is never about the place, it's about how you approach the place.

So, quit whining.

I haven't dated in more then 5 years now! If I need to be "intimate", I hire an escort, and life is FAR easier without the hassles of trying to meet women! Even when I was younger, they had zero interest, and now that I'm 40, its below zero, in the negative numbers now! So, stop trying, just enjoy the other things life has to offer... Thats my advice....

I wouldn't say this advice is a best-fit for everyone. I have never employed an escort, nor would I ever consider this, nor do I know anyone who has (here's hoping)

I did fairly well for New Years just by going into a place and being sociable.
No I'm not a great looking guy.

Just know that, as with most cities, "social proof" and "social circle" working will play a huge role. So get out there and meet some new people so you can have some social networks to work.

I don't know what all the situations AnimalLover was dealing with, but this lack of interest from females doesn't seem to be universally applicable.

To the over 40 point, I've missed out on chances with more attractive 28-32 year old females because they were what you would call "west-end-bound" and had an idea of what they could get; the condensers I was dealing with were well into the 40 range so don't know what to say there.

What I've noticed, women fit into 3 categories(for me anyway), first, marrried, and therefore not interested, second, boyfriend, and also not interested, third, generally single, but STILL not interested, so I gave up many years ago! WHen I can afford it, I buy some female attention, and I KNOW I will get lucky(unlike the gamble of a so-called "date"), and when I can't afford it, lots of porno! Lifes so much simpler without worrying about trying to attract women, once I gave up, after 35 unsuccessful years of trying, I realized, all I have to concern myself with at this point is feeding and housing myself until I keel over someday, with no other "personal" concerns!! It definitely has a way of simplifying life!!
