I have heard of Sonic, but they're not in NY either. And the funny thing is that even without Sonic and ChickFilA, most New Yorkers will tell you that the food is one thing they miss the most. It's all that great ethnic food.

I'd love to hear some suggestions for good ethnic restaurants.
Also....if you know any place to get good Italian bread....
Or any farmer's markets. We have Tom Leonards here in the West End, which is a very nice store, but also a bit expensive. Any others that you know of?

As much as I love Richmond, I have to say that I do miss some of the food that Rochester had. They had fantastic Italian, Greek and Thai food. Upstate/Western NY has a very strong following of Italians, and you can find authentic Italian food around every corner. The Greek and Thai food was also very very good. If anyone ever goes to Rochester, try the King and I (Thai). For Greek food, try the Olive Tree...authentic and delicious. Italian food is great at Denticos, Agatinas, and Mr. Dominics. By the way, Rochester, NY has a Sonic or two now.

Although I miss some foods, I have found some new foods that I love very much in Richmond. I love the Mexican food, the barbecue the mix of Cajun-type food. I also tried 8 &1/2 (in the fan) last night, and they didn't have bad Italian food at all. It was actually pretty good...so it's not like it's non-existent down here. Oh, and let's not forget about the TREMENDOUS seafood in Richmond...mmmm...blue crab! I'd say the food is equally good here, just a trade off of ethnicities (Italian for southern cooking, Greek for Mexican food, etc...).

Good Italian... try Mama Zu's in Oregon Hill and Edo's Squid in the Fan. There's a really good Ethiopian restaurant in the Fan as well.

I think I see the Italian restaurant you were referring to called Amici Ristorante. I think they own another restaurant downtown. I'll have to check them out. I'm gonna have to put together an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all of this. Maybe I can devise a year-long plan that will get us to all these places!

I would like to see more Dunkin Donuts come to Richmond. There's nothing like their iced hazelnut coffee.

I'll check out some of the places mentioned. Can anyone recommend a good buffet style restaurant...that has good choices for kids as well as adults?

If you're talking about the donuts...I'm sure you're right, although I've never had one. Can't beat Dunkin Donuts coffee....much better, and cheaper than Starbucks.

Where is there a Sonic in Richmond?
