I had two acres cleared in WA a long time ago, and ended up with piles and I also had my first thought while reading your OP about - and then what do you do with the piles. A guy I was dating came over and took all the wood that he could use in his wood stove - and left the rest of the pile LOL.

Those piles were still there when I sold the place several years after I bought it. Put in utilities, fence, road, etc. At least the piles were out of the way. The guy who bought it was the guy who put in the septic system. He had big equipment so they didn't deter him. Heck, he probably just dug a big hole and buried them lol. But yeah, piles with dirt in them don't burn. I tried. Just ended up with a black pile.

I hadn't heard of the mulching option. Really nice.

I do clear a bit of brush here and it is on the small scale.

One thing I do is make a pile of good sized chips or whatever you want to call it.
I use the chip stuff for easy fire starters in my wood burning stove heater.

So on the side of my stove you will always see a box of “chips” .

This works for us.

I agree. No sense disturbing the soil with a dozer if your goal is simply to clear the brush and small trees. After a forestry mulcher clears it, you could just brush hog it once a year or once every other year if you want to keep it open. You might also want to invest in a sickle bar mower. You could do half, or even less, each year so that you're not completely eliminating the vegetation to the detriment of wildlife.

Walls go up tomorrow!

Impressive, beautifully done!

Oh hell, now you’re done it.

Fresh pictures from today.

The brush is several inches tall. I reached out to the builder’s son tonight. I’ll purchase a sprayer, the brush killer and have him hit it next week. His finals should be over this week. He’s a good kid and earning money is his summer job.
