Pretty much exactly three inches in our neighborhood. It was moderately paced for most of the day, without wind, and only briefly heavy for a few hours, with some wind but not as bad as some winter storms. All in all, a lot got absorbed into the ground and is appreciated for helping our trees and shrubs!

Wow, amazing, I missed it too. 10 years, and basically Sacramento climate and weather are the same no major deviations from 150 year averages. The only noticeable change is winter tule fog is practically non-existent in Sacramento. Otherwise same ol' same old.

How much rain did Phoenix get out of Hilary? Sacramento got only .05 to .15.

Oh I have no idea, we're in the Sacramento area now Moved a few months ago. And yeah, it sprinkled a tiny bit one day, and was still overcast the next, and that's it. I don't know if Phoenix got anything. Let me say though, when Hurricane Norbert came through the same area in September 2014, we got absolutely soaked. It was down to a tropical storm though by then, I think. We had only been in the Phoenix area for 5 months at that point. Massive flooding everywhere. Took a long time for all that water to dry out. I don't think it was that much in terms of inches, but that hard ass desert dirt can't soak water in worth a darn, so it was a big, flooded, wet mess everywhere. Got sent home from work.

It's been a really mild summer for sure. And that's great for reduced water use, less drying out of the landscape for the fire season, etc. We actually had more overcast and light rain in SD on Saturday morning, mixed skies all holiday weekend (but mild temps), and today, we've got full on June Gloom -- in September! First time we've had multiple summertime situations of our pool temp dropping below comfort levels bc the solar can't work without sun. Very appreciative when you read about the insane heat in other parts of the country.

As our warm/hot days leave us for the next 9 months, some perspective:

In August, 2023

High Temps:
Phoenix had 29 total days of 100F plus; Sacramento had only 2 days(heat index)

Of those 29 days,

Phoenix had 26 days of 110F or more; Sacramento had none.

Phoenix had 15 days of 115F or more; Sacramento had none.

In August, 2023

Low Temps:
Sacramento had 29 days of low temps in the 50's & 60's; Phoenix had none.

Only a handful of cities across America can count on very cool mornings in the dead of summer, Sacramento is one of those cool morning cities.

For 16 days Phoenix's low temp stayed in the 90's all night long and early morning. Sacramento has never experienced that type of prolonged heat and/or lack of cooling.

For 12 days Phoenix's low temp stayed in the 80's all night long and early morning. Sacramento has never experienced that type of prolonged heat and/or lack of cooling.

In August, The lowest temps Phoenix experienced were the upper 70's for 3 nights; Sacramento had 2 nights in the low 70's, so the warmest low temps for Sacramento were still cooler than Phoenix's lowest temps.

Again, Sacramento had 29 days of very cool night and mornings; temps in the 50's & 60's; Phoenix had none.

Good stats, but Phoenix is in the desert, in another state, and a Low Bar to for competition.
