The Sacramento Kings have sold out 19 seasons. Half those seasons they were not even in the playoffs - most NBA cities never sale-out when not in the playoffs.

It was voted on once before and failed miserably. Which is why they didn't want to put it up to the voters.

A lot of out of towners are excited about this too. I was chatting with a group of 15 year old enthusiasts boys from the bay area at the arena site, and I was thinking it has taken more than half their lifetimes to get to this point. A few of the boys were from Sacramento and they didn't believe it was really going to be an Arena, the Bay Area kids were telling them "yes, dude thats going to be the Kings Arena", the Sac boys didn't believe it until they saw the signage.
I moved out of a Sacramento over 5 years ago. Currently live in L.A, and am EXTREMELY excited that this happening to Downtown SAC. I visit my hometown twice a year to see my parents, but this arena is going to give me a few more reasons to visit. I personally cannot wait

Pretty awesome, ha? I am a big fan of Small/midsize cities with a compact urban core and a lot going on. I like Portland for this reason, minus the lack of diversity. But in terms of the infrastructure, this is going to be so cool for Sac. Downtown will be bustling but the neighborhoods just outside of the downtown core will still retain their charm and walkability. I think it's a big win for Sac. After this is built, I'll be excited to fly in coming back from my next little vacation and just look down on that stadium and the transformation downtown is going through.
