I am looking for information about Jackson and specifically the 55+ community. I cannot find much information online (which might be a good thing?). My husband and I are in our 60's and are very active outdoors. Looking for an area with like minded people our age that offers trails (not paved) to run and hike, good road cycling opportunities and occasional mountain biking.

The surrounding area seems to meet most of our needs and appears to have good restaurants in nearby communities.
Looking for a quiet community with very close by areas that meet our physical activity interests.

Appreciate any info.

Jackson View | is probably the only thing in the area close to what you are looking for.

Jackson is a very small town- there's certainly outdoor recreation available but a lot of land is private.

Hi, not sure if Jackson is your final choice but I'm 64, just moved to Nevada City (north on Hwy 49, 85 miles from Jackson) after researching spots for a year and I've never liked a place better. Has all you're looking for and more, population about 3000 but a few miles away is Grass Valley, pop. 13,000. 4 seasons, dustings of snow, hot clear summers -- rich with arts, nature, age-diverse from kids to retirees - I could do their "Move Here" ads, it's that good.

Jackson is a fine city but 10 miles away is Ione. This is a GREAT place to live if you are older. No homeless, clean, deep cultural pride, terrific golf course, three major lakes nearby and a beautiful river. Check it out. Here's Amador County from a drone's perspective.

We're looking all along the foothills corridor north around Chico down to about Sonora. Nevada City and Grass Valley are beautiful, Placerville etc, but wildfires are concern. Lots or research need to learn the ins and outs of these smaller towns. Proximity to Bay Area or Sacramento for reasonable international airport access is important to us.
