Option 2 is to move to Elk Grove with decent schools and commute to Lodi, not sure if traffic would be an issue
Option 3 is to move to Rancho Cordova/Folsom with nicer community and great public schools
Looking to buy a 4+ BR house (budget 600-900K)

Are there any gated communities in Lodi? Any recommendation for a good community to check out in those three locations.

We're also interviewing realtors in the area. Any recommendation or warnings as we start our search.

Thank you.
I live in Rancho Cordova south of Highway 50 and even with that wouldn't recommend commuting.

Lodi is known or was known for having good public schools. I lived in Lodi for a short time and its been years but the realtor drew a line down the middle of town on the map and everything west was considered the desirable part. From what I understood the further west you go the better the neighborhoods. But, even the less desirable parts were not bad at all. There was a gated community in Woodbridge just north of Lodi.

Damnitjanet,

You probably meant to post this useful information in another Sacto thread.
I will copy your reply there.

Buy in Galt (between EG and Lodi, and still belong to Sacramento County, not San Joaquin which you definitely don't want to be in). Galt has many new neighborhood with good public school. There's not much for entertaining their, but good for raising family. It's only 15 minutes to EG if you want to go out.

I knew an older gay couple who moved down there and love it.
