Emigration Canyon has a fire situation. It can get extremely dry and at times the houses have been threatend by wild fires. I don't remember reading that any houses were lost but I had an acquaintnace that lived up there and one summer she spent a day or two hosing down her house and property. That alone would make me pick another area.

Yes, we did indeed find the perfect home in Jeremy Ranch. Can't have backyard chickens there, but it seems like a nice area. We mostly chose it (Park City) for the schools and the location for commuting to SLC. We looked at all the neighborhoods in Park City and liked them all. We also looked at Emmigration Canyon, the area is beautiful, but the Park City schools won hands down for us. We are not too concerned with the wealth of Park City as we lived in Wellesley, MA for 8 years and if we can survive that, we can survive anything. Plus, that whole comparison thing happens no matter where you live. You just have to deal with it I guess.

We are so excited to move! We really love the beauty of the state and there are so many things to see and do. Everyone we met, and I mean EVERYONE, was so nice to us and friendly. We had such a pleasant visit while house hunting a couple weeks ago that we didn't even want to come back. But we have to pack Anyway, the responses here were a big help to me and I appreciate the time people took to respond. I also have to say that I loved SLC as well, the small shops and all. So much to do in SLC. Great places to eat. Not Boston, but I really think that it has everything that we need and like.

So now you need to do us a favor. Join us for lunch the next time we have a Meet n Greet, which we do about every three months. And if you're ever in Salt Lake City on a Saturday afternoon, stop in at the Salt Lake Visitors' Center in the Salt Palace Convention and ask for Kathryn. I'd love to meet you and give you some suggestions as to some of the fun and interesting places you can visit in the city.

Congratulations, jbn1 on finding your new home. Yes, I agree, you will find comparisons everywhere. And living in the mountains, in a major ski town with great schools is too enticing. I am so excited to be in PC, as well. We are getting closer, pretty much committing to Summit Park at this point. All the info on this thread has helped us. Thank you all so much

Congrats and welcome to neighborhood! I'm @ Pinebrook. If you ski or snowboard, give me a shout and we'll do some runs @ Canyons.
