More than 250 houses have been evacuated and the area has just been expanded. I can smell the smoke in SLC - and see the haze. A friend further south has ash falling on her house/yard.

The area north if SLC is also affected. It is only supposed to get worse as the winds pick up later.

Reminds me of when we had our fire out in Herriman a few years ago. Once again lack of responsible use of firearms is to blame. It's bad enough we have to breath the air we usually get, but this stuff is a whole other level of yuck. No rain in site for a week at least either. They'd better step it up a notch or two or this is going to be real ugly.

Sounds like more than 1K homes are being ordered to evacuate: Mandatory evacuation ordered for more than 1,000 homes near Eagle Mountain fire | ksl.com

I am working at thanksgiving point and you can see the flames from here. Ash is all over the ground. It's pretty bad.

There has been some confusion between houses and people. Now saying 500 houses and over 1,000 people.

They need to just ban target shooting outside of designated ranges. This is ridiculous. The politicians say 'use common sense', well apparently there's a lack of it among some people, so on to the next step.

Indeed I'm not seeing "common sense" being handed out in the people I'm meeting so why should it surprise me to see things such as this. The governor is squarely in the hands of a certain organization who shall remain nameless that has a hold over the politics of this State so he has to tread lightly. Especially where any possible gun control is concerned. Don't forget we are in "don't tell me what to do I'm a Utahn"

This morning ABCNews reported 2,500 homes evacuated but the really bad haze in SLC is gone. Before dusk yesterday, I could not see the mountains and today I can. Hope that means better control over it.
