Definition of a Statistician: A man who believes figures don't lie, but admits than under analysis some of them won't stand up either.

Statistics are like a lamp post to a drunk... better used for support than true illumination.

A point that hasn't been made yet, unless I missed it. To me it seems like there are a lot of mormon-owned/run businesses (not to mention the govt - at all levels here - is pretty much de facto mormon) and it appears that mormons first hire their own, and then they hire others. But most of all, while they might engage in hiring of outsiders, promotion to higher/management level positions, seems to be strictly kept for the mormon bunch.

I am retired, but during the 44 years I was in the job force, no prospective employer ever asked me my religion. One and only one asked me a question that to me was clearly intended to tell him my religion. I played along but found it very annoying. At any rate, I worked for a dozen companies during those years. In the last company I worked (for 13 years), the president was LDS and one of the two vice-presidents was LDS. The other vice president was Catholic. Two of the six directors were LDS; four were not.

That might be true in small, family-owned companies, but it is definitely not the case in most places. It does seem to be an excuse commonly used by the non-LDS who aren't getting the promotions they think they deserve, though.

Yeah, but are you white/anglo?? That seems to help if you are not in fact mormon.

You're determined to find bigotry somewhere, aren't you? I'm anglo; my husband is hispanic. Our experiences in the job force are roughly equivalent.
