Someone I know in a professional setting is a resident of Houston. He, his wife & 3 daughters have been exceptionally conservative regarding their behaviour - they don't go out, he works from home, groceries are delivered to the garage & he wipes everything down with a disinfectant prior to allowing anything to come inside the house, etc.

All along, they've been paying their housekeeper but telling her to stay home, (same for us). Earlier this week they finally decided to let their housekeeper come to clean their house; she was inside their home for about 6 hours. Without a mask. The family members just moved ahead of her so as not to be where the cleaning lady was.

Yesterday, they got a call from their cleaning lady; she thinks she's infected because she has lost her sense of smell and taste.

Tomorrow, the family is driving from Houston to Park City (two days on the road) to spend a month vacation in Park City. They are not cancelling their vacation even though they've just spent 6 hours indoors with a presumptive infected housekeeper and hence they should self-quarantine for two weeks.

This is yet another way the disease spreads from location to location.

Yes, totally irresponsible all the way around. It's as if the protests (and media coverage) led everyone to believe that Coronavirus was canceled. Even previously conscientious people are going on about their lives with little care.

I wonder why the protests are singled out in connection with inducing the irresponsible behavior. There is a long list - starting with the President, Governors of several (red) states, hurried moves to open up without mandating the use of face masks, the message on the social media by the followers of certain bent that have been running counter to responsible behavior from well before the protests erupted and have not slowed since.

So, wonder why you think protests led everyone to believe ....?

PS: I was unhappy that some of the protests turned violent, destructive and otherwise led to lack of social distancing. So, I do not support such behavior at all but the inducing irresponsible behavior has been led from the very top.
