I'm trying to figure out how much more my property tax will be if the below proposal passes. My property value is $224,300. I came up with a figure...and am praying I'm WRONG! So if your better at math than me...please help me! Here's the gist of it:

At the Aug. 10 school board workshop, the Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved a proposed six-cent increase to the district’s interest and sinking (I&S) or debt service tax rate, which will raise the rate from 27 cents to 33 cents per $100 valuation for property owners if approved in September. The maintenance and operations tax rate (M&O) will remain at $1.04 per $100 valuation giving the district a total proposed tax rate of $1.37 for 2010-11.

I come up with $307.29 - $1.37 per hundred, house valued at 234,300, which equals out to 234.3 x 1.37.

Feel better?

Correct - your tax will increase by $134.58

Current rate:
224,300 / 100 = 2243 * .27 = $605.61

New Rate:
224,300 / 100 = 2243 * .33 = $740.19

Total School district taxes including the increased I&S rate:
224,300 / 100 = 2243 * 1.37 = $3072.91

How can one find out what the property taxes are for a particular neighborhood/sector anyway?

Go to the Bexar Appraisal District website, and do a property search by address - you'll be able to see exactly what it's listed at.
