my husband saw the truck and dozens of other response vehicles while on his break. does anyone know what the initial accident they were responding to was all about? he said there was an abnormal amount of response vehicles down the road and i'm wondering if it had more to do with the tipped fire truck or whatever the accident was. he tried to find more info about it, but all the articles only really mentions the fire truck.

I believe ladder trucks like that one run about $750,000 new!

I wasn't trying to overshadow the fact that some of our firefighters sustained injuries as a result ot the accident, I was just amazed that such costly apparatus could be so easily destroyed by apparently taking a turn too fast (preliminarily, thought to be the cause of the rollover).

I can only hope that all injured persons recover quickly, and that SAFD can confirm what caused the truck to flip, so that steps can be taken to prevent this kind of accident in the future.

I am still shaken up after seeing a firetruck jackknife in front of me. I'll never see anything like that ever again. Hopefully they can prevent more future incidents. And you are right that is amazing.

Sometimes training doesn't guarantee employees will follow that training. My training at Via was pretty extensive, but when it came to on the job training with veterans, they broke all the rules. One lady was driving with her elbows while eating chips.

Luckily I was not drinking my water or I would have spit it out laughing.

Oh and speaking of VIA, this:

Wow! I'm not surprised the bus driver fell asleep. VIA will make you get off at 10:30pm and show up for a 3:30 am pull-out.

I'm not surprised at the low lawsuit cap for government agencies either here in Texas.

I am no longer laughing.

I sure miss the Buppets.

It is so dangerous to have people driving anything that huge, bus or firetruck, with little sleep.

Good Lord you people can be holier than thou sometimes!

I missed that part in the TOS that said "in a thread about an accident one is only allowed to post concerns for the safety for those involved"

Sometimes policies don't take into consideration what's appropriate.

Not according to insurance companies. We're worth about 5million.
