Ive had my house three years, first two, 573, then they wanted to go up to 797, that was allstate, said all texas had a rate increase. I shopped around in April and found another policy, more coverage, and more contents, $570 a year.

Keep in mind that it's not just the amount, but the deductible, past claim status, other policies held with the company, and the zip code of the property.

Information on Texas Homeowner's policies : Homeowners Insurance

In addition, there are different types, or forms of policies issued: HO A, HO B, and HO C : http://www.texasinsurancezone.com/in...erageguide.pdf

.
The Texas HelpInsure site is great for sample comparison shopping on insurance rates/policies for both homes and autos. There are also some very helpful resources listed under the Learning Center tab as well.
