I think you are exactly right. My Dad built his house close to there. Mom didn't like it because it was all Caleche (sp?) but dad thought it would be a stable place to build a house. He built most of it himself. This was 1958-1959. There was no I-10 or Wonderland. I was there when it opened in 19 something. I remember the Betty and Glen dance studio in the lower floor. I wonder what happened to them? We drove down Fred. Road to Dewhurst to Beryl Dr. There was a Trailer Court there. St. Gregory's was there too. 1959. I went there in second grade. First grade at St. Mary Magdalens. Mom didn't like us to take a short cut through the trailer courts but we did it anyway. We did anything we wanted to.

Nope, but it looks to be in the boonies.
Someone told me it was there and i also heard there was one in Alamo Heights, there is a bike shop there. It is past Austin Highway.

Handy Andy used to sponsor the playday at Playland park all the rides were a nickle I think, maybe ten cents they gave you a little coupon at the store about a 2 inches wide and 7 or 8 inches long.
I live in Boerne and I used to drive to the Handy Andy from time to time on Commerce st. just to see something different. I haven't been there in a couple of months I guess I'll have to go now to check out the new store. They really had a very nice produce department. You could buy things like banana leaves, whole nopalitos and Cuban potatoes.

I remember shopping at Handy Andy with mom, they had a little conveyor belt that would take your bags to the outside/curb- I think it was at the Fredericksburg location...or maybe Broadway?? Either way, great. Sorry to see them go.

I don't know but it looks real close to the photo you posted.

Sorta reminds me of the one in Colonies North. BTW, this "Harlan's that took over some or all of their locations isn't much better. In the end Handy Andy's were rundown and high priced as a convenience store. They may be cleaner now but still just as pricey.

Will this building was the Handy Andy I'm pretty sure. The Billiard supply was in the north end of this building. Not sure why Google won't let me copy URL for street view..

I think they got some wires crossed on the Austin Hwy and Military Drive location.
